There was an awards ceremony at the Stradey Park Hotel last night to celebrate the best of the projects awarded a grant under Carmarthen County Council’s “One Fund”.
The 226 projects were assessed by an independant panel under 6 categories & Penygroes Community Garden were the “Environmental Enhancement” winners. The Gardening Club won a certificate, an engraved glass plaque and a £500 cheque.
The awards were based on the criteria of sustainability and community involvement.
This is a tremendous boost to the volunteers from Penygroes Gardening Club who spent many hours over a 2-year period planning, designing, funding, supervising and planting the garden.
