Minutes of last meeting

Matters Arising
Dog Fouling
* The Councils team were out on Tuesday and have done a good job clearing the Norton road area, but have missed areas in Bridge Street.
* The Dog Patrollers are happy to patrol outside of normal working hours provided they have dates and times (also names if possible). The clean up team is a separate section.
Tables
* Unsure of situation as Yvonne Kelly unable to attend meeting.
* The Forum would like to officially thank Kevin Kelly for his help in securing the chairs for the pavilion.
Community Development Officer
* Alan Lewis (One Fund) explained that advert for the position had been placed in The Journal, Guardian, Star and Post. An example of the advert was shown to the forum.
* Closing date extended to 16th March. Three applications already registered and have been sent the information pack and amended closing date.
* Five to six calls had already been received by Wednesday pm.
* MCG to organise short list meeting and contact applicants.
* The community match-funding amount is £1,424.
* Position will terminated at the end of March 2008, but no further payments can be made after 15th February 2008.
* Although funding ends at this date, the CDO may be able to continue working if they can find ways to fund themselves.
* Interviews to take place at MCG offices with an MCG representative, Peter Roberts, Julian Tandy and Siân
* Thomas on the interview panel, Wednesday 21st March at 6.30pm.
* Financing details for this position are with Yvonne Kelly.
* Preferred qualities; Bi-lingual, experience in this position and local knowledge.
Community Garden
* Work started towards the end of last week and the building work should be completed before Easter. ‘Before’ photos were taken.
* Debbie Williams will place announcement in the Community News.
* Planting will be carried out by the Gardening Club and local community.
* Local schools will be included.
* Sub Committee to oversee work will include; Julian Tandy, Phil Owen, Yvonne Kelly and Lynnette Reynolds.
* It is planed to have an official opening in May. Siân Thomas to please speak with the National Botanical Garden representative for any possible help.
* Ysgol Feithrin to be involved in the project.
Walking Club
* The Welsh Health Initiative web site has information on setting up walking clubs.
* There is a course that trains people to be trainers, which ensures they will get insurance cover from the council.
* Marie Anne Jones cancelled meeting with Julian Tandy owing to ill health.
Recreation Park
* Money is coming in from developments covered by Sec 106.
* Siân Thomas has spoken to two developers.
* Amy Hawkins is facilitating the Park Project although this will be a task for the incoming CDO to assist with.
* An open day to discuss what the community wants to see in the park has been organised for the 17th April, from 12noon until 7pm, latest.
Apostolic Development
* The councils Legal Dept. are still debating the issue and because they have other more pressing matters to deal with it may be some time before an announcement is made.
* There will be a consultation regarding the Caerbryn Road development after the 5th April.
Other Developments
* The land used for parking adjacent to the Protex site, along Norton Road may be considered for a housing development.
* It looks as though the land is owned between four people.
* Protex are to move the fence back into its original position.
* If there are under 12 houses planned, then a Section 106 is not required.
A.O.B.
* The Forum needs to arrange a meeting with the Penygroes RFC as they are using the Pavilion on a Wednesday night as well as Tuesdays and Thursday. This means the facility is used by them 3 nights a week and is going to make meetings difficult.
* This could be a task for the CDO; to arrange a timetable for use of the pavilion.
* The pavilion is a community building and must be used by all.
* The Garden Club meeting will be held on the last Tuesday of the month.
* There are to be three benches in the Community Garden, which will be available for dedications. Approximate cost of benches is £150.00, to be confirmed.
* There was a recent incident where young children (under 11) were placing the rubbish bin outside the Penygroes Library, into the middle of the road in front of oncoming traffic.
* The Forum members have shown concerns regarding the Gors-Ddu Road junction with Waterloo Road, traffic calming measures, which mean that large vehicles have to almost mount the kerb on the opposite side of the road to turn at the junction.
