Community Development Officer’s Report - July 2007
Posted by Phil under News , Development Officer's monthly reportsThe tubs of flowers have been installed. One was stolen, but found very quickly by the Community Police. They are adding a bit of colour around the ward, despite the bad weather.
The grant application for the woodland walk alongside Caerbryn Rd. was successful.
Unfortunately, as a result of changed circumstances, the landowner has decided to sell the woodland and it is therefore unlikely to go ahead. This is a disappointment as a lot of effort has gone into obtaining the grant. There are many other walks and rights of way across the Ward, however, and I will be working to help make these more accessible over the next few months.
The community garden is looking nice. We’re waiting for the benches to go in.
Protex’s application to run a new entrance to their development through our new garden is being opposed by the Forum, the Gardening Club, the Memorial Hall committee and by many other groups and individuals in the Ward. I hope that the Planning Committee takes note of public opinion in the Ward and asks Protex to look again at their original entrance. Perhaps someone from the Council could arrange a meeting between Mr. Taylor, the Hall Committee and Calfaria Church to iron out any problems that may have arisen over improving visibility from that entrance.
The Welsh version of the website is still in the process of getting existing information translated.
The Community Police held their 3rd surgery in Neuadd Goffa. There still doesn’t seem to be much call for this service at the moment.
The Flower Show and the Strawberry Tea went well, despite the terrible weather we’ve had this summer. There are photos on the website.
