Report of Community Development Officer to Forum for November 2007
I’ve applied for Lottery funding for a Community Mentor to replace my job when it finishes in March.
The Forum’s Autumn Bulletin has been published and includes a questionnaire on the future direction of the Forum.  They should be delivered over the next few days.
I’ve started on a course about Community Engagement at Menter Cwm Gwendraeth’s offices in Pontyberem. It’s every other Saturday morning over the winter.
I’ve been to a meeting of the Gwendraeth Valley Training Forum to discuss training courses.  It is possible to set up courses in Penygroes (computing? internet for beginners? Various aspects of Gardening?) if there is enough interest.  They would be looking for 10 to 12 people wanting to do a course to make sure it went ahead.  Please spread the word and get in touch with me if you know of a group of people wishing to do a particular course.
We have received a grant to prepare an interpretation board giving milestones in the history of Penygroes to be sited outside the Hall. Cambria Archeaology is doing the work for us.  If you have some nuggets of information about Penygroes which you want researching or think should be included, let me know.
We have had a grant to hold our Blues evening in Penygroes Rugby Club on the theme of “Hearts & Flowers” on Saturday 16th February.  The band is “Fat Barry’s Soul Band”, so it should be a good evening.  Tickets are available from Yvonne Kelly or myself.
The plans for the new extension to Neuadd Goffa have been drawn up & I’ll be applying for grant funding over the next few weeks to have it built.
The planning application by Protex for a proposed library & community garden has been submitted – application number E/17888.
