2007

We had a brilliant evening last Friday (Dydd Santes Dwynwen) in the upstairs room of the Badgers, Blaenau.  Carmarthenshire company Gwingar talked us through 8 different wines and how they complemented the tastes from 2 different food menus (red wine menu & white wine menu).

Caryl & Julian Tandy had worked really hard preparing the food and Eleanor did an excellent job as a waitress for the evening.

The weather was perfect for the boxing day walk - dry and not too cold.  John lead the way from the Farmers Arms, via Spien Rd., onto Maesglas Rd. & then over the top to Caerbryn.  From there, it was a bit of a pull up Caerbryn Rd. and then across Penygroes Woods to reach Llandybie Rd.

It was good to see some new faces this year.  Some stayed on at the Farmers to put back on some of the calories they’d burned off during the walk, but everyone enjoyed the afternoon. Perhaps someone will organise an Easter walk - any volunteers?

Treasure Hunt
The Treasure Hunt went ahead on a lovely Saturday afternoon.  Only 2 teams competed, so won 1st and 2nd prizes.  Both teams found the course interesting, going through areas they hadn’t seen for years.
Thanks to Paul from The Badgers, who supplied the food in Blaenau Hall afterwards.  This was much appreciated as he was also catering for the very large funeral party after the tragic death of Mark Walters.

Treasure Hunt This Saturday

Remember the Treasure Hunt this Saturday, starting from Penygroes Pavilion at 4 pm.

There’s free food at 6pm for those who’ve had a go.  All you need is a car (or a friend with a car) .

Entrance is only £1 for a team of 1 to 4 people.

As with many things, it’s more fun with more than one so why not team up with someone & give it a go.

1st prize is dinner for 4 at the Badgers Bar & Brasserie, Blaenau.

Twmpath Comes to Penygroes

Twmpath group Rattlin’ Bog came to Penygroes Rugby Club on Saturday evening.  Around 30 people turned out to have a great evening.

Some had to be drawn out onto the dance floor, but once they were there, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Jeff did the BBQ - with Welsh Beef sausages & burgers.  There were vegetarian burgers cooked separately for those who didn’t eat meat.  Eleri and Mair made the salad & fruit.

Lots of people went up for seconds - but then they could dance the calories off afterwards.

It’s a shame there weren’t more people from Penygroes Ward.  Here are some pictures so that you can see what you missed.
