Environment

There has been another spate of fly tipping in Penygroes Woods.  It’s a shame that the enjoyment of many people can be spoiled by a few selfish individuals.  With a little bit of effort, Penygroes Woods can be a lovely place to walk - and so close to the village.  Hopefully, the people concerned will be brought to task & made to clear their rubbish.

Volunteers got together on Friday morning to improve the drainage of one of the paths in Penygroes woods.  Stone spread before the Boxing Day walk had washed down into a gully.  This was dug out and a pipe put in.  a drainage pipe was then laid in stone along the side of the path.  Future work will include drains across the path to keep it drier underfoot.

Many thanks to Mark, Ifor and John who worked really hard on a difficult stretch of path.

Planning Permission Given after Site Visit

Protex Corporation have been given planning permission to move the entrance to the Emlyn site so that it goes through the new community garden and the library.  There are conditions attached to the permission - a new library and garden must be built first and the Gardening Club must be compensated for their financial loss.  The Forum have today (9th October) handed in a petition to Carmarthenshire County Council asking them not to sell the land which they promised to the community for 15 years so that the garden could be built.  It is very difficult to persuade people to do anything for their community if the result of their hard work is not respected.

The planning application for 3-story houses and appartments on Gorsddu Rd. was not approved and Protex were told to redesign the site so that there are only 2 storey houses and more parking spaces.
