January 2008

Everyone in Penygores Ward should have had an Autumn Bulletin through their door, with a questionaire asking people what they think the Forum should be doing.  It’s important for us to know what you want us to do (if anything), so if you haven’t replied already, I’d really appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes filling in the boxes.

I’ve extended the deadline until the end of this month.  If the questionaire’s gone to the bin, phone me up for another one (01269 841427), or download it from the link below (right click the mouse over the link & click “save target as” to somewhere where you can find it again).  Fill it in (Welsh or English pages) & email it to me at philipowen@btconnect.com or give me a ring & I’ll come & pick it up.

Come along to the wine tasting event in Blaenau on January 25th (Dydd Santes Dwynwen - buy some tickets for your love, or come alone and make some new friends).

Local company Gwingar will be giving guidance and advice on 8 different wines, with sample food from 2 dinner menus.  A minibus is available to pick you up from within Penygroes Ward and drop you back home.

Tickets are £10 each or £17.50 for 2 - great value for food, wine and an evening’s entertainment.

It starts at 7.30 pm.  Tickets are available from Julian Tandy - 07749 812286 - or from the Badgers.

The weather was perfect for the boxing day walk - dry and not too cold.  John lead the way from the Farmers Arms, via Spien Rd., onto Maesglas Rd. & then over the top to Caerbryn.  From there, it was a bit of a pull up Caerbryn Rd. and then across Penygroes Woods to reach Llandybie Rd.

It was good to see some new faces this year.  Some stayed on at the Farmers to put back on some of the calories they’d burned off during the walk, but everyone enjoyed the afternoon. Perhaps someone will organise an Easter walk - any volunteers?
