Gardening Club Trip

The Gardening Club is off on its annual trip - to Malvern Show - this Saturday.
There are still a couple of seats on the minibus, so if you fancy joining us, give Yvonne Kelly a ring on 01269 843882.
The minibus will be collecting people around 8.30 and we should be back around tea-time.
The bus costs between £5 and £7 each, depending on the numbers.

Community Garden

After a number of delays, groundwork started the Penygroes Community Garden on Tuesday 8th May.
For those of you that have not kept up with this development, it is going to be situated in front of the Library.

Victorian Evening

Over 90 Ladies enjoyed a Victorian Evening at The Apostolic Hall on Tuesday.
Many dressed in period costume, some made especially for the event.
There was also lovely food, polite conversation and a video.

The Games Evening on Friday Night
(4th May 2007) at The Memorial Hall

proved popular once again with people of all ages enjoying themselves with many traditional  games.
Bowling Chess
Climbing Wall Jenga
Skittles Welsh version of Monopoly
Tippet 1 Tippet 2
Surprisingly, Tippet was a big hit with both the children and adults.  The Climbing Wall was bound to be popular but so was the likes of Bowling, Skittles and Jenga, which sometimes had three games going at the same time.  Even the toddlers had things to do with a small play area and a game of giant snakes and ladders.  There was also an intesting game of 3D noughts and crosses which seemed to be busy most of the time.
Other games included:
  • Welsh version of Monopoly
  • Ludo
  • Frustration
  • Chess
  • Shove halfpenny
It was good to see so many age groups playing together.
On behalf of the Forum, I would like to thank Menter Cwm Gwendraeth for helping arrange the evening, Yvonne Kelly for supplying many of the games, Mair Griffiths for the refreshments and  everyone else who helped make it a successful evening.

Penygroes Park Consultation Day Tuesday 17th April

The turnout for the Park Consultation was better than expected with over 200 local residents showing interest and giving their thoughts on how they would like to see the park area developed.

Members of the Carmarthenshire County Council’s Parks Department, Menter Cym Gwendraeth & The One Fund were there to provide additional information.
The refreshments were provided by Sutton Brothers Developers.
The story was also given the ‘page 3′ treatment in last weeks Carmarthen Journal.

Proposed Park Equipment

The information is being collated by Menter Cwm Gwendraeth and is expected to be available shortly.
Thank you to everyone that came along and especially to everyone who helped on the day to make it such a success.
